In this poem I thought of the 1970's--its a spoof on the young of that time who sometimes seemed to crave free love and lots of booze and such, but were really just normal guys and dolls looking for someone to love. Published by Coffee Press Journal, 2005. Copyright to J. Donald Coonrod.
I wrote you a love poem
strands of life drawn out,
taffy pulled from my soul,
a day's pleasure--
but do I know who you are?
Gimme a cookie.
I'm cool
with preservation of wild life
and all that; broken and real
between a dream and a
nude dip in the pool.
Taking a break
from the wriggling snake—
sun shines warm on my back,
yellow skies and all that,
and I love you, I love you!
This is a book of free verse poetry that addresses the seven main tests in life and offers some sensible solutions to passing those tests with minimal discomfort.
Be safe,
