Rapture

My face buried, inhaling the pillow
where your head full of hair
and your beautiful unsettled brain
laid restless
only the night before

My body wrapped in the cotton
where your sea green eyes closed
and opened and closed again
and the sweat from your skin
soaked the sheets and seeped
more places than you know

This is all I can have of you
and I know this, but you remind me
in case I forget,
and for now it is enough.
But as you cannot promise
me your heart
I cannot promise you
my heart's armor will stay in place

As even armor needs a breather
so the heart doesn't suffocate
from lack of use.

I like the uncompromising element of the poem simply because that's reality and nothing can be done about it. Cool.

You're an interesting writer with an interesting bio. I wonder what growing up in an 'orphan asylum' was like...

Damn... this is good stuff! I don't normally enjoy "free verse" but you actually know how to express coherent thoughts by it! Not many really do. VERY nice!

Ahh... so you DO have a heart... Sigh. I'm so glad to hear it. Maybe I can come and exercise it for you, no? Oh..and I have to email you about my OG. Can you believe the man who said, "As long as we don't have any feelings for each other, we can have lots of fun.".... has gotten jealous of an EX b/f of all things... not even a current one. I had to appease his fragile male ego and let him know that he's the only one that's ever made me "squirt"... I think that did it for him. (And good thing, I didn't have to lie... it's the truth!) Imagine that... lol. Hugs, sugar. I'll write soon.
