Blindfolded...We Dance

All writers will understand what happened here. This poem was inspired by a snowfall. I set out to capture that moment but the result was entirely different. Funny how something or someone can trigger feelings you were oblivious to! This one spilled out of my quill....

Let's imagine these snowflakes
are
confetti
celebrating happy times
Let's pretend this dance
is
elegant
and our clothes are divine
Let's wish for an excuse
to
forget
that evil boasts success
Let's pray for an answer
to
rid
ourselves of this mess

Dance with me now, as flakes escape the gray
Under bonnets of snow, we'll laugh and play
We'll drop these adult skins and step away
So far away...
The innocent child within shall emerge
Then a true feeling of freedom will surge
We will discover ourselves on the verge...
On the very verge...
Leading our lives as they were meant to be
Remembering moments with clarity
No longer blind to people's misery
Yes...misery...
In this jaded world, speckled with evil
Where the weak are forced by another's will
And hunger grumbles for charity still
Yet, so still...
Like the child who dies from poverty's touch
Mourn the victims grasped in tyranny's clutch
Help the newborn left in trash cans and such...
And such...
Is the world that rotates beneath our feet
One must be wary of a thief and cheat
Bad parents grow strong and children are beat
We can beat...
Hardships which riddle the path we frequent
Ignorant attacks launched solely to vent
Poverty...when just a few dimes are spent
Spent on...
Rebuilding lives that were torn asunder
Correcting wrongs we now call a blunder
Acting instead of staring in wonder
It's a wonder...
The land still yields despite wounds that must mend
Choices exist and opinions are penned
Compromises live when one dares to bend
Bend and curtsey...
Dance with me now on this two-sided blade
Where trouble is found and pathways are laid
And Fortune's Wheel makes sure all debts are paid

Let's imagine these snowflakes
are
tears
expressing dissatisfaction
Let's pretend this dance
is
requested
initiating our action
Let's wish for a reason
to
remember
there is good in the world
Let's pray for forgiveness
when
God's
wrath is uncurled

I can definitely feel the turn your emotions took during the writing of this piece, Sheila. A fine write, chock full of beautiful images juxtaposed with images of our troublesome world. Beautifully done! ~Hugs, Elizabeth

Complex weaving that is enchanting. From snowflake to snowflake the muse just ran from your pen and wala; brilliance. Yes, there is good in the world where you exist and shall remain that way through your influence. excellent write. Liz

Exceptional in its humanitarian message and also the cry for loving one another the way that the Creator intended us to. This imparts a divine influence on the mind and soul. Wake up or be judged!

Beautifully inspirational work. Imagination can unfold from the eyes of innocence and the heart of a child...that is how I wish to see it all.

Very powerful indeed, and yes I can see where your heart and mind made the leap from gentleness...to sadness...to anger and then back to hope for a spirutal awakening and eventual forgivness of the worlds foolhardeness

Sheila,

This is a powerful write; a dance of imagination and yes, let's pray for compassion. There is goodness in the world. I've seen it. I read it in these lines. Excellent.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Sheila,

I see the connection and where you wanted to go with this but our minds can be so easily sidetracked. We find ourselves asking if we truly deserve to enjoy the lighter times of life when there is so much sadness all around us. A blindfold can't cover what we don't want to see. The image can melt the snow that we dance upon my friend. Sheila, you may dance anyway. I believe God will forgive the lighter moment for it's He who created us to be free. Awesome write. What you meant to pen turned out to be something really special and reinforces the fact that there are good people in the world. Love, Peace and Blessings to You and Yours Always, Paul.
