Every time I close my eyes
The memories wash over
Still now I catch my breath
As the tides of red pools
Cascade around your blonde curls
The smell strong of tequila
Noticing the pale blue blanket
That had been so carefully tucked in
The picture burned forever in my mind
It was if time stood still
It took a lifetime to connect the dots
A small voice echoed through the deadness
She was so cold
So I covered her up with my blankie
My heart suddenly stopped
Unable to beat
Unable to breath
Collapsing to my knees
Only able to rock her in my arms
That was the day
I prayed never to sleep again
