Blood calls to blood
Because we all are One

“The Great White Father now calls you his Brothers
Not his children
Because you have shown in your education
And in your settled ways of life
Staunch manly worthy qualities
Of sound character.” ~ Woodrow Wilson

Blood calls to blood
Because we all are One
Don’t let the Game cause you
Too much pain
Many moons ago our Fathers met
and decided to give the Devil his due
Because of their decision its come down
To me and you

Shared historical modes of
Oppression
Families divided by generations of
Miseducation in a racist nation
Enslaved and Enslavers both
Native American tribes can’t deny
The bond of blood that exists
Between us
Without trust
Without common cause
All is lost

“The Great White Father now calls you his Brothers.”
~ Woodrow Wilson

Blood calls to blood
Because we all are One
Don’t let the Game cause you
Too much pain
Many moons ago our Fathers met
and decided to give the Devil his due
Because of their decision its come down
To me and you

Black White and Red relations
Strained by the privations of
Mammon’s bloody salivation
In these the Last Days
Tribal ways are beset by
Greed and Envy
What belongs to my brother most certainly
Does not belong to me
Or in other words
Just because we shared a relation some
Generations ago does not make you my
Brother

Brother

“…Not his children” ~ Woodrow Wilson

Casinos spring up like weeds bringing
Prosperity and answering needs
Reservations used to deprivation
Look to Republican lobbyists for salvation and
All of a sudden
Everybody wants to be an Indian
Searching the Dawes
Three and four Generations
Looking for a Nation to call their own
Cherokee Creek Choctaw or Seminole
The old stories are just as painful today
As they were when they were first told
Our Ancestors parted ways on pains of Death
Many sojourned West to get away from
Memories of Love soured by Greed

“The Great White Father now calls you his Brothers.”
~ Woodrow Wilson

Blood calls to blood
Because we all are One
Don’t let the Game cause you
Too much pain
Many moons ago our Fathers met
and decided to give the Devil his due
Because of their decision its come down
To me and you

But the Old Ways still exist
Elders who’ve resisted the influx of
Mixed-blood Natives intent upon
Economic gain
Looking to Earth Mother for the Signs
Listening to the Wind
The Sands of Time sifting
Through minds aligned with Planetary
Movements

“The Great White Father now calls you his Brothers.”
~ Woodrow Wilson

Blood calls to blood
Because we all are One
Don’t let the Game cause you
Too much pain
Many moons ago our Fathers met
and decided to give the Devil his due
Because of their decision its come down
To me and you

“The Great White Father now calls you his Brothers
Not his children.” ~ Woodrow Wilso

"Blood Calls" bears the bio-chemistry of social injustice, and depicts the reality of the ignorance of human INTELLIGENTSIA.

THE BELLS OF ALERTNESS SING THROUGH THE "Blood Calls". It is an
instructing and stimulating reading from an outsatnding social
poetic voice.

Healthy Long Creative Life, Poet!
