Nature’s unpicked food
Succulent and plentiful
Stay out, gnaw at it
Trying to fit into four
inches of space-
squeezing in,
screaming
hiding my eyes
i’m losing my mind
a mouse had me trapped
I saw it earlier but
thought it was a peach
pit that had missed the
garbage.
Noooooooo!!!
i peek to be sure-
still there-
frantic-
dancing on
my toes over hot
coals-
screaming-
Nooooo, no, no, no, no
one more peek-
still there-
i’m shattering my own
eardrums
please don’t get my feet
drenched in sweat
clawing
pulling at my
clothes
i can’t stand it-
i hurt all over
if i could only rip my
skin off
the me inside is
angry and crazed
fighting to get out
now, i
whimper-
and jump at every
movement and sound
i have thoughts of me
walking up to it
bending over;
face to face
picking
it up between my fingers
the images haunt me-
all the “what if’s”
i can still see it- and
electrifying chills
bolt though my body
faster than the speed of
light

I haven't seen one in years, but I remember when I had
