Past Present Future

You bullied your way into my
life and reduced me to a weak
pathetic psychotic young girl

You left me shaken and afraid
by chasing me from my safe
haven; the only place where
I was free to direct my dreams
anywhere I wanted them to go

For days, I was anxious and in a
tizzy

I jumped at everything that showed
my reflection

No sudden outbursts.

Speak to me in an even tone

Don’t ever sneak up on me

Don’t wake me by shaking me

Don’t let me awaken with someone
standing at my bedside.

I could feel myself delusional even
in my dreams

Someone wanted to hurt me
someone wanted me dead.
people I love and trusted appeared
with hallowed out faces, and little
sprigs of hair embedded into the
cracks of their skulls.

Knives were raised in their hands, about
to descend upon me.

I couldn’t scream

I couldn’t sweat

I couldn’t move

I couldn’t feel

I couldn’t even talk to myself

I couldn’t cry or silently pray and
wait for death

Then little by little I felt life being
restored to me in a tingling sensation

I was free of you…

Many years passed without a thought
of you until now…

Not only are you banging at my dream’s
door again – somehow you’re getting
through

You’re a nasty barnacle – a nightmarish
growth in my mind, and I can’t get rid
of you.

My screams at night frighten me.
it’s like you want me to know and feel
your presence.

The worst part of it is that I know I’m
an enabler.

But I refuse to go through what it takes to
be desensitized.

It’s not an option

You’ve haunted my past

Hunted me down and
caught up with my present

And with very little effort, you'll make sure that you will always be able to control my future

My god! This is absolutely brilliant.. thrilling, in fact. My heart raced.. pounded.. the music is amazingly appropriate but your words are stark, yet darkly elegant for your message.. I'm simply blown down here! "nasty barnacle" <--- fantastic phrasing.. I just can't seem to say enough.. What a write!! katy.
