Every line tells a story of the many bittersweet transitions of womanhood.
As my mind drifts through times Across dreams and reality I see her before my eyes. Full of life... Fresh like a drop of water sparkling on a leaf.
Laughter from the not-so-distant yesterday tinkled in the air, playful, inviting, teasing... Refreshingly youthful. My heart soars to new heights as it embraces the uniqueness of that sound.
The sense of foreboding that crossed have gone Leaving a throbbing emptiness An acute recognition slowly dawning... Then my mind comes back like a great wave about to crash. The newness have left.
Yesterday became distant once more. Unfeeling and unseeing of a heart's silent plea for it to come back. As I lay broken on my bed I began to feel a gnawing pain within.
Then I look into your eyes. There, I see my Creator's masterpiece. There, I see a light that lifts my tired spirit. There, I see innocence.
And I smile. I am cleansed. I am whole again.

A sense of being broken and the painful experience of losing one's innocence can all be gleaned from the verses and the most beautiful of all was those lines about being 'cleansed' and reborn by looking into the innocent eyes of a child. God's mysterious ways of comforting the aching soul. Very meaningful, indeed.
Outstanding depicting of a sublime moment. "Coming of Age" is a scented flower from the garden of love.

Captivating! I personally believe that when love radiates from the eyes of the innocent, it can truly have a cleansing and comforting effect to the aching soul.

I didn't want to miss this one, Sheri. To lose one's innocence in painful circumstances can be traumatic. But God's comfort is at hand in the eyes of a child, then strength and faith are restored in the soul. Meaningful write.
The verses really captured my feelings of hope when looking at the innocent child's face. I have always wondered what is in that face that make us forget past pains and failures. Could it be the face of God? Well done my dear!
This is nice, a look into the view of one's own journey of life and the reflection through the eyes of a child...from a child to womanhood...a nice work of thought and expression of life through poem...
