Sagging is the new slave uniform which too many young Black men wear by choice. Sagging says I’m a member of the group destined to go to the new plantations called US penitentiaries willingly where mainline goods will soon be manufactured for consumption cheaper than any other country.
Too few Malcolm’s return to the field of progress as they succumb to the latest evolutionary diversion and proclaim this is just a style as if fashion was not a capitalist tool. Sagging for the youth is their statement which screams to a society which defines them as marginal to kiss their asses. Mainstream declares them expendable as they step up from marginal and the death dance continues.
Newly incarcerated inmates eye older ones for whom sagging conveys a different message as fear of falling is the least of their worries. Transitional clothing hides for them a dread filled reality so they proclaim again and again kiss my ass as they contribute endless dollars into the coffers of the clothing corporatocracy with which they identify only from the rear of waiting backsides. Kiss my ass becomes a new psalm as the rest of us whisper. Why? The new slaves shout at hidden masters. Why not!
I truly love to see someone's underwear showing as I go into any fast food place these days. Where has self respect gone to?
My generation had bell bottoms that said kiss my ass. But our ass wasn't actually showing.
Sadly lost souls... the new generation...individualism and social skills lost...handcuffed to the acceptance of an uncaring existence.
well done...

"...killa pig...if you wanna be the Man...kill a pig..." rapping has been prostituert from a pure protest song with social values to a form of instigation when it is cooooool to be baaaaaad.
"...bad boy bad boy, wanna gonna do when they come for you..." the rebelion against social injustice becomes a rebelion for rebelion sake.
I understand Mikii, even being white doesn't stop me to understand.
A couple of generation are going down the drain, First Class not less, one don't want to fell going third class, do we?

I believe when children are taught that their minds are what will be their standards for life; including clothing, language and attitudes rather than Madison Avenues and all their by-streets. We have only ourselves to blame because we've let someone else do the thinking. Good write which makes perfect sense.
Thanks,
Dan

It is amazing how the young buy into the manipulation of minds.
I think the way kids dress today is disgusting. Either they want to show off their bodies or draw attention to their butts, like when girls wear those shorts or pants with the writing on the ass. I think it's awful; we need to teach these kids of today to wise up and teach them values! That's one thing that's severely lacking in their lives! Good one, Miiki!

I cannot understand why kids want to show off their butts (and show them in their attitude of apathy). Following the masters of fashion ... they got lost along the way. An excellent thought provoker you've penned: well done.
Still Living on my Feet is the follow up to Tichaona Chinyelu’s first book, In the Whirlwind, which was rooted in a sense of hard-hitting revolutionary black love. However, in this sophomore effort, Tichaona brings the revolutionary essence from deep
