Facing today’s reality with a heavy heart I am forced to confront my truth
Hiding between the cover of writing I can forgive my retreat into the comfort zone
Of my non-productive writing reality.
Observing the daily output of my companions in the den I am ashamed to call myself
One of them a writer.
I am instead torn between the bombardment of today time and seem to be drowned by ongoing world wide horrors.
I am saddened by a companion who calls my poetry depressing when all I try to share is the truth as seen from my aging worldview.
I am however comforted by cover of love given to me by my husband who still think of me as a writer his eyes clouded by my desire of my youth to one day dedicate myself to the craft in my golden years only to discover I must battle diminishing energy.
So today I pander to any who will read my work whom I admire for their output and ask does my work depress you as I thank you for your honest answers.

This is a very profound pondering. "Facing Today's Reality" is poemization with the energy of the ichor of the author1s veins. I better leave my opinion through the lines of the acrostic "The Dame From Marianna":
“The Dame From Marianna”
Heavens know an Angel, I know this Dame:
Oriflamme... a model social fighter,
Orderly, for virtue is her life name’s
Prize of mission; live pen, astute writer!
Etched on the posterity will and cause,
Right on to the aim – shows facts – never fails;
Mentioning realities there’s no pause...
Blunders of society won’t get hails!
Ever warning voice; her quills stand to soar
Neat on line to justice, fairness and height...
Nestling equality and bright scores,
Eager to see people’s Nation true might!!
Torch of love, a Poet on earth’s full goal
Touching clay man’s mind to ignite his soul!

And, if any one call one word of what you write "depressing" tell that one to read my "welcome to my word" and then talk.
My muse need a few days aways, she can be with you in no time.
Cheer up

The first sign of a healthy ego is having a sense of purpose and to follow YOUR dream. The only opinion that counts is your own, and the purpose for which you write.
(You need new friends when old ones tear you down.)

I have not read any of your work that would make me want to go out and slash my wrists. Do you remember reading any work from Renee Rilke? Now you want talk depression, he was off the deep end.
Some of my writing is a little dark and sometimes depressing, and if readers think it's too dark for their taste...too bad! It's what I wrote at the moment.
The minute, we as readers start labeling writers as 'dark' 'depressing' or some other kind of labeling we've lost the value of what the writer can bring to the table.
Finally, write your mind, heart and soul, and when you do that, it doesn't matter what the reader thinks.
Peace,
Dan
