Why revolution? Why not?

Wonder why we need a revolution when all around us our institutions are crumbling.’
Like Junior and Baby Girl are in Junior High school and Baby Girl at 13 is pregnant with Mr. Leslie’s baby and he is 34 and owns the café near the school
But it hasn‘t burned down and he still pats little girls on the behind when they come in to get change for the soda machine.
BUT WE DON‘T NEED A REVOLUTION.

Like everyone knows James Leroy rides the short bus to school but he
Is convicted of armed robbery cause he was in the car with his bright cousin Eddie when Eddie and his boys robbed the store and gave him a pack of cookies.
BUT WE DON’T NEED A REVOLUTION.

Like Mary Maybelle left her new baby number six in the back seat of a strangers’ car while she traded sex for crack money and the baby choked on its’ own milk filled mucus as the car radio played loudly and it died without ever learning to say mama.
BUT WE DON’T NEED A REVOLUTION.

Like we in Arkansas await the decision to medicate a psychotic killer on death row so that he will be momentarily sane enough to understand he will be executed.
BUT WE DON’T NEED A REVOLUTION.

Like it is easier to jail youths with adult sentences and trials for heinous crimes without any accompanying penalties for malfunctions at the parental level.
BUT WE DON’T NEED A REVOLUTION.

Like we are reluctant to love each other above and beyond our physical desires as we watch our youth being desecrated and killed by first the resurgence of VD and quickly by AIDS.
BUT WE DON’T NEED A REVOLUTION.

Like you’re afraid of me and I’m afraid of you because you don’t value your life and I have to become a killer to save mine because I’m old and now healthily frail.
But in my heart of hearts burns a fire of hope for us all.
BUT WE DON’T NEED A REVOLUTION WHEN JUST WAKING UP AND GETTING UP FROM DEAD LEVEL WOULD SUFFICE.
