The first lady looked into her closet at the pink suit calling
Her in its’ spring voice.
Wear me this Sunday it cried.
It is my turn you wore my sister Green last Sunday.
You even took her on your trip to the Women’s Auxiliary Seminar on Wednesday.
Wear me , wear me, wear me, the red silk flowered blouse cried.
I look better than the Black floral blouse and I’m new.
They’ve never seen me and the red hat looked around and beckoned with the wave of a hand.
You know I’m the one Ms. First Lady, you look so good under me.
So she grabbed the red hat and blouse and the pink suit and placed them neatly on the bed.
The shoes in the closet hearing all of the commotion outside the closet door began to look at each other, attitudes surfaced and one started to argue.
What you looking at me for, my bow is broken on my left side I know I won’t be chosen.
The six pairs of black shoes evil eyed each other.
What you looking at? What you looking at?
The other replied.
While the four pairs of red shoes looked at one another and smiled.
The first lady hummed softly as she opened the closet even wider and the red snakeskin purse leaped from the shelf as the matching sling back pumps strutted out of the closet.
The beige and white shoes, the green , and yellow shoes, the blue and navy shoes all cried because they knew they had no chance against the red snakeskin shoes and purse.
The first lady continued to hum as she headed for the shower.
Hey hey hey the chosen clothes sang.
We going to church this Sunday.
