black and blue

my skin bears the backlash to prove,
it's a tightrope we walk between,
self-love and pure selfishness.


my brain seizes up with words,
held back, held in, held above,
what all others have to say.


my ears are plugged up
with the shoulda-woulda-couldas
by all others' estimations.


my eyes are salt-crystals,
seeing the world through the
fragmented edges of cryo-tears.


my mouth is one thin line,
upon which, i measure carefully
chosen words i never say.


my throat is thick with anger
and swallowed back rage,
the pain of which needs release.


my world would be technicolor,
without walls, no holds barred,
if i would just cry freedom.

I love and can connect to the first and last three stanzas. The quote at the end is also very true, another great poem:)

this speaks volume...the pic alone
those who bore the weight will feel the sting here
and the others will hear the desperate cries
powerful!!! no-one can help you more than
that inner-voice, get-up that inner-strength
your life is more than his/her canvas
