Poem Artwork

cardiac silhouette

is it possible
to mourn
lost love,
never given,
not really,
not up-front
not truly
to begin with?

it won't be
there,
nevermind
the countless
times
you bend
over backwards
looking for it.

leaning
forward,
you realize
the empty hole
is where
your heart
would be,
if it hadn't broken.

Yikes, this is good. Good form, forward and backward. (winks)

I love the title... it captures the entire poem in a way... and the picture works so well...
Sometimes when things turn sour you end up blaming yourself anyway even if it was the other person's fault... "if only" are the two most difficult words to get through and even still they come back to haunt frequently... Good writing. I like stuff that makes me think about things... ;)

Heart piercing truth. You've found spare words that hit their mark, each one.
