the way you
dys-remember
us
dismembers me,
ripping heart from sleeve,
torn in fragments,
crimson tissue
littering the street,
diamonds rubied
to burning coal
beneath bare feet,
walking as i do,
away from you,
two steps forward,
one step back to me.
You express so much with an economy of words that is impressive, Anne. Thank you. Love and peace. Regis

Thank God for simplicity and choice words. I loved the beginning of this the best, because that "dys-remember" stays with the reader throughout the poem.
In a post-coup America, an Illinois farm boy is drawn into the resistance by his brother's death. Captured, he is given a choice: betray his friends, or the girl he loves will be lobotomized.
Major League ballplayer Justin Moore is kidnapped from his own ballpark and transported to a foreign land. It might take high-level international negotiations to free him. Or maybe he will take matters into his own hands.
(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :(
