... death feathers a pillow

.... death feathers a pillow. 

 

Don't be surprised when ..

watching someone slip away,

things once so very clear

may go green, even black,

and then very nearly purple.

And you'll think, "This can't

be a part of someone I love."

                ***

But it is, so don't hesitate,

giving the colors the regard,

you used to give the words.

Wisdom once spilled forth 

out these lips, jaw lax now,

death's rainbow spilling out,

soaking the white pillow slip.
