Easier Said Than Done

I shall continue on then,
cresting hill or tall mountain,
taxing lungs and chapping cheeks,
ascending meaning everything,
backing down not an option?

Or, is it better to trip and fall the bogs,
leading to the depths of a black forest,
hands and face torn by nettles,
teeth clenched in firm resolve
even though I’d like to spit and quit?

I’m not sure which is best, or who decides.

There are no forks in the road,
Mr. Frost, and I can’t see beyond
the end of my nose, the hurt in my heart,
the silence killing my ears,
and all my good sense is lost.

... stolen from Jane Eyre's diary, or maybe Snow White's, or maybe Dorothy G's, or maybe mine ... or maybe anyone who has ever been lost in the woods ...

Great observation. I was never a fan of Robert Frost. Life is not that simple as choosing between two roads, as in Robert Frost's worldview. Sometimes all the roads lead us nowhere. Well done.

Quite delightful and refreshing. Considering the other poetry that I've been reading here. I don't know why others have not commented. Not many are commenting these days with all of the busyness we have to do just to get through a day. The simple times of Robert Frost have seemed to escape us except for a few that refuse to ride the game.

These Black and Blue Red Zone Days by Aberjhani

Just as life during the pandemic was color-coded with different hues representing different levels of danger, life in its aftermath has become shaded in similar ways. As a self-styled “Seeker of Beauty with Beauty,” (borrowing from a quote by W.E.B.
