The Morning After, the Failed Ever After

In the beginning...
... when he arrived,
the door swung wide,
and I knocked down all existing walls.

We lived out loud, arms spread wide,
our love and laughter reaching the peak.

But then ...
... he took leave,
the door stood agape,
and I built no walls back into place.

Standing there alone, broken-hearted,
the full weight of the roof split my skull.

... some ancient history about this piece which i've toyed with some more tonight.  the first time this particular rant hit the web, two people who supposedly "knew me" were slightly pissed.  one thought it was "all about them" and how dare I?!?!? and the other person thought it was barometer of my current condition and was ready to move in for the kill, a clean sweep beyond my remains.  the latter person also thought i got the title from something they said, which may have been the case.  who knows where i get half this stuff?!?!?!

the funny thing about this, as i'm sure you all can relate, is that everything we write is not literally cement-based in our life or about someone we know.  in this particular piece, i just wanted a roof sitting on someone's head!

and so it goes .........

"The Morning After, The Failed Ever After"... This poem is a true expression of poetical neat-net creative art.

Healthy Happy Sunday, Poet!

Ignore the nasty words and do what you do best. Humans are funny creatures and many decide to protect their pride at all costs

Thank you! I couldnot agree more! I recently had someone give me a lecture on how to treat my boyfriend after reading a poem I posted because they are a "big sister" on here to him, and I have never spoken to this person ever, yet they assumed the poem was about him! Funny! Or not...:) I can relate. This was a great write.

words should never have to be explained. if people don't understand what you wrote and personalize it they don't know you well enough....the images are strong--a house without walls is in shambles

Actually, Anne, while I'm sure you just wanted a roof sitting on someone's head, your work came out a little deeper than that. While it may not be "cement based" on your life and should not be taken literally, methinks parts of you were put into it without realizing the fact.

Amen to that sister soldier. I get taken literally, practically all the time. I guess it is just my inept way of trying to articulate my thoughts and feelings.
