Every year thousands of kids
go through their "mids".
For a week or more they dredge
soon to be left on the edge.
To be left on the edge
or independent life.

Seniors all over the country
will graduate soon, happily.
It's the first day of May
graduation is one month away.
The week's have flown by fast,
soon it will be in the past.

We're all on the very edge--
one step from that ledge.
Soon, we'll be on our own.
We'll pass on the crown--
to the juniors goes the crown;
next year this is their place.

Through the years it's been fun,
enough fun to weigh a ton.
It's taken a lot of work
to get here from the stork.
Now all the work has paid off--
look out world here we come!
