That morning both the Crabs showed up at Precinct No.1;
Both quite a mess, and in distress,
They told their tale, and without fail,
Demanded something done.
Inspector Todd heard all they said, his face a hopeful sign.
Their eyes then met, "Now , let's not fret.
"There's work to do with help from you,
I'm sure your girl is fine.
"First, I’ll need descriptions. It's important that I ask
Her weight and height, if fat or slight,
If plain or fair, her length of hair —
To minimize our task."
"Inspector, that’s not hard," the Crabs both yelled in harmony.
"Our girl's the cream; a perfect dream!
"If we must boast, our Kate's 'the most.'
"The fairest girl you'll see!"
Like so, he took their statement, and with money that they'd brought,
He made a sign he hoped in time
Would bring their girl, lost in the world,
Back home where she was sought.
The posters then were printed and were hung for miles around.
And by and by one caught the eye
Of old Miss Good, as well it should,
When she went into town.
