Yes, I loved the cars and the age of innocence was still in the air.
Now we have to have an expert in every complicated field. There is a crook on every corner waiting to trip someone who is not aware of their schemes. A handshake deal is a thing of the past. Lawyers crawl beneath every signature deal ready to sue you for all you earned. Honesty has been replaced with "How much can I get away with?" It's in our TAX forms that we fill out. If we let Uncle Sam have all of it then we are labeled "Stupid" if we take too much, we are in danger of committing fraud. Not even the CPA's and lawyers full understand our tax returns. So all we can do is sign, pay and pray. Amen!
There was a lot of anger about racial injustice, thankfully softened by the poetic words of Martin Luther King above the riots. There was a real schism between the upward mobile middle-class and their children, leading to many runaways and drug addictions. There was a real fear of flying because of all the plane hijacking going on. And, the Vietnam War created a schism between those that wanted to eliminate communism by force and those that wish to eliminated by negotiation and peace.
Finally, in The President's Analyst, the source of the problem was located… The telephone company!
