My poem / prose is about a scene that I witnessed outside my living room window back a few years ago....
"A VERY ACTIVE SQUIRREL" I happened toi be Looking out the window In the afternoon A squirrel was jumping Across the yard With an acorn In it's mouth Came upon a tree To break the shell Into many pieces Chewing what was Inside the shell The squirrel then dug up The dirt then buried Part of the shell Climbed the tall tree Hung upside down Cracking and eating the acorn Then jumped back down To the ground Then dug up the shell That had been buried earlier Proceeded to crack The acorn open When the squirrel was done Bounded off towards the woods

Nice little story poem of the life of a squirrel this time of year when they get very active burying food for their winter. As a result, although they are very good at finding buried acorns and other nuts, probably from smell, I have read that they generally only dig up a small fraction of what they bury. Making squirrels the great tree planters of the forest.

Ah! The life of a squirrel seems to be a minute-by-minute pursuit of acorns. A nice poetic glimpse into the life of one.
