My prose / poem "When It Was Just One Colonel Sanders" is about the founder, the face of KFC, Colonel Harlan Sanders who created the recipe for the chicken that he sold at his eateries....
"WHEN IT WAS JUST ONE COLONEL SANDERS" Once upon a time There was a Colonel All dressed in white Who was selling Delicious tasting chicken Using a secret recipe That he laboriously created This business minded Colonel Kept building upon his creation Until an offer came along To make his secret recipe Of delicious tasting children Not only a household name But also a renown business

From a teenager on, the Colonel's chicken was one of my favorite fast foods. Nothing really beats the original recipe. And the reason the chicken is so well cooked and tender is that steam cooking process that Sanders developed in the late 40s, opening his first franchise in 1952. I remember most is appearance in those late 50s movies, always in character, selling his chicken to the auto cruising crowd.
