My prose / poem "And The Kick Is No Good" is about all of those football kickers who missed a point after or field goal and it always haunted them....

"AND THE KICK IS NO GOOD"

The haunting memories

Of missed point afters

and missed field goals

Have haunted kickers

For years and years

Hell, I missed the boat altogether. I was too small and couldn't take the roughing up carrying the ball or trying to catch it from the backfield. So I quit football. But, for some reason I was gifted with very strong legs and a very good aim. Just kicking the ball around in practice, I found that I could place it almost anywhere that I wanted and had good elevation and distance. I was almost better at punting sending the ball high enough and far enough to give the offense time to get under it to make the tackle or down.

I guess the coach never saw me kicking. Still, I regretted the opportunity time or two, and then thankfully, forgot it… That is, until reading your poem.
