My prose / poem "My Grandma....A Grandmothers Concern" is about when a little girl in my grandmothers neighborhood was struck by lightning and she sent a newspaper clipping about it to my mother....
Lightening struck a spot of ground where a friend and myself were knocked to the ground. We were not physically injured, but after we both got to our feet we walked toward the other and hugged.
I always liked to stand outside on the porch out of the wind and rain watch a strong front come in and smell the acrid air as lightning flashed all around and thunder pounded the land to the point of feeling it in our chests.
The only person in our family who was ever struck by lightning was my brother-in-law, standing in the opening of a boathouse when he was struck in the arm. It was okay, but quite a shock when it happened.
