A SEASON....SUMMER 1971

My prose / poem "A Season....Summer 1971"
is about rebuilding a block patio that was shifting and sinking.

My poem is in my poetry book "The Journey Through my Life".

"A SEASON....SUMMER 1971"

 

Rebuilding A Patio

 

Had helped my dad build

A cinder block patio

But several years 

Of inclement weather

Created the blocks to shift

So after my banner school year

My summer project

Was to rebuild the patio

And I began relayering

The base of sand layer

And relaying the blocks

So that the water would drain

To prevent the uneven

Settling of the blocks again

I must have done a superb job because when we moved from there 8 years later in 1979. it was holding up well, especially after the severe snowy & icy winters and rainy summers that we had in the 1970's.
