The Long Road Back

The next evening after Rick Randolph had returned home from his trip to Baltimore, his cell phone was ringing once again, this time the caller ID read Martin Karre.

Rick answered the cell phone and said, “hello Martin, how are you”. Martin Karre said, “well how did the doctors appointment go”, Rick responded, “I got back home this afternoon and the doctors appointment went well, I have another appointment with doctor Donaldson on Wednesday July 18, 2007 and he said if all goes well, that I can start working out at the stadium and if all’s well after that, I will be able to rejoin the team around Wednesday August 8, meaning that I would have been out injured on the injury inactive list for around 120 days”.

Martin Karre said to Rick, “that’s good, you’re making progress, but one of the reasons that I called was that I have news about your ex wife”. Rick responded, “oh, this should be interesting”. 

Martin Karre said, “well the situation is shaping up, Fred and Carolyn Reynolds are apparently telling Alicia that they want her to start writing words to songs, then putting to a music score, they are attempting to get her ready to make a comeback by putting out new songs when her house confinement ends in the spring of next year.”

Questions went through Rick’s head and he said to Martin “you mean she’s putting together a compilation of songs”. Continuing, Rick said, would any of them be played by the radio stations, or will anyone buy her CD’s”.

Martin replied, “her parents have a plan and apparently they are putting it all in motion and she is going to have to go along with it, that they are going to control her career from now on. The Reynolds, they know people who they can call on who will gladly help them and open doors that are normally closed to others. From listening to them, I think that they have some big plans. Also from what the Reynolds said that they told Alicia that she ruined the best life that a woman could possibly have, that she had the “fairytale life” and she just blew it completely”.

Martin was chuckling, then said “yes, I did get that impression and so did my wife, Dianne.

Rick ended the phone call saying to Martin, “thank you for the info and the heads up, I am sure that one day, sometime in the near future we will be hearing about it.”  Rick then ended the call and turned the phone off and said to himself, “it will be interesting to see where all of this headed”.
