HOLLOW, SHALLOW, SUPERFICIAL LIFE

My poem "Hollow, Shallow, Superficial Life" is about how there are people who are so into themselves that they ignore the real world that surrounds them.

 "HOLLOW< SHALLOW, SUPERFICIAL LIFE"

 

Many people are living in a 

Hollow, shallow, superficial life

 

There are people who live 

In their own little world

These are people who cling to

Cliques to associate with others

 

They join in with the hip incrowd

Who are just into themselves

 

They only deal in situations

That offer no real substance

 

These people blindly follow

The herd and embrace escapism

 

And pay no attention to the real world

That is crumbling all around them

Great poem! And so true too! I can even name a few already whom I know of.

While these people group themselves into a little corner there are just so few things that they can do. They missed out on meeting the real world, having meaningful friendships and relationships with others. It's bad when people group themselves into a little corner. Like living at the bottom of a well syndrome, or head in the sand syndrome.

I am retired (retired ever since my husband was diagnosed with cancer. Well, he has passed on already), yet I go places, meet people. I do my everyday things. The only thing I can't do now is to travel because of the stupid pandemic, but I won't and refuse to sit in a corner. I go out and do things, even for a few minutes or an hour or so a day to keep myself sane. I also call up my friends and relatives just to be connected with them.

This pandemic can really get to you when you just sit in a corner with just a few friends.
