My poem "Expecting Your Respect Is Not Foolish Pride" is about our in your face dysfunctional, disrespecting, demeaning society.
"EXPECTING YOUR RESPECT IS NOT FOOLISH PRIDE" In today's society of everything goes With doses of in your face attitudes And dealing with today's dysfunctional ego's We're faced with disrespecting attitudes Just because someone can jiust go around And act disrespectful and demeaning The saying what goes around come around Is more than just a real catchy saying A society expecting your utmost respect No one is asking you to show your utmost respect Society does not consider it foolish pride

You're right. People often have foolish pride, that if you dig down deep, you find that it is a lack of self-esteem that they project as arrogance gathered from those around them instead of from their own clear thinking.

We can expect respect, but we may not get it.
