This dark embrace has shadowed me
And caused the light to wane.
Free falling tears have soaked my bones
But can’t release this pain.

The urge to move beyond the soil
Where long gone dreams now lie…
To fertile lands beyond the veil
Where visions never die.

Have caused my hands to scratch and claw
So far beneath the surface…
To find the cause to lift my eyes
And find within some purpose.

And then I find new urgency
To move beyond this ground…
The other side of midnight’s pain
Is where the light is found.

It’s just life’s road that twists and turns
Beneath the ebb and flow…
Of all the dreams that ever bloomed
And from the darkness grow.

So when these shadows come to me
What have I left to fear?
For insights spring beneath the mist
Of every fallen tear.
