Sometimes she’s so weary and yet no one sees,
With the wind pushing backward she’s down on her knees…
Only this time she feels it sink in to the bone,
Never mind where she wanders it’s always alone.
Seems it’s not worth the hassle to try and explain,
So she buries herself right along with the pain…
While it’s just out of reach to the medicine shelf,
No prescription is offered she must save herself.
But it’s hard to self-medicate regular doses
When remission is feeding the sleeping neurosis…
Now awakened with vengeance through her blood is flowing
The mutated thoughts that keep twisting and growing.
Can’t remember when dreams started fading and dying,
Or the moment in time when she’d finally stopped crying…
But the withering hours have burned through synapses
And fevers her mind as the sickness relapses.
Still within her despair is a soul that won’t die,
As a tear finally slips from her inner mind’s eye…
Releasing the pent-up frustration and fear,
To purify thought until purpose is clear.
Through the valley of shadows her spirit is lead
To find reason for living in spite of the dread…
She will never relinquish her faith and her hope,
As hand over hand she keeps climbing the rope.
Emerging completely from darkness to light,
With a fist full of freedom erasing her plight…
To envision new dreams and enlist a new fife,
Embracing the rhythm that serenades life.
You are in a class by yourself...this is so unbelievably potent and midst the pain and misery to find such beauty and hope is awesome...God bless you Melissa...
Mellisa, this was oustanding, and so full of lifes struggles. "As hand over hand she keeps climbing the rope." That was a fabulous line, great imagery.
