It was never her intention
to require much attention
yet within her was a longing to be whole…
In the hollow empty moments
when her thoughts would feed on madness
she could not see past the damage in her soul.
Yet the ordinary tick-tock
of the masquerading time clock
seemed a tolling for the dreams that she’d let go…
In fleeting moments she had pondered
how the good was always squandered
while the painful days would pass so ever slow.
A silent prayer to the sky
that she would not lie down and die
before she found within some meaning to the past…
Her mind would always keep refining
lessons burned within her being
begging light upon the shadows to be cast.
Until she finally found some reasons
for the changing of the seasons
when the heart and mind are frozen deep within…
The answers whispered through her being
life is more than simply breathing
it’s believing we can bloom and grow again.

The rhythm in this is so...constant. Reading it out loud you can actually hear the clock. It's so cool! It's just like an added bonus to the poem.
