The loneliness I have come to know;
the sadness, which clearly does not show;
the trampled pieces of lives now past;
the pride and sadness that sorrow casts;
these are the things I cling to now.
These are the friends to whom my head in comfort bows.
The priceless hours in love, invested;
the mind, the heart, the spirit tested,
shown in a lip, now bitten and blessed.
The soul more perfected by patience and love,
and a bone-weary spirit, which has been numerous times digested,
by lies and wickedness, manipulation and deception;
the same kind of identity that the stomach has with indigestion.
It is not enough to just sit and know,
what it is like to have your heart take such a blow.
Your whole being must learn while it pays the price,
to expand and wither, much more than thrice.
Hang on, and let the bitter brew.
There is nothing more that I can do.
It makes me sad, and lonely too,
to know that God’s been good to you,
and you, without renewal,
just quit.
Dear readers, this is my third book of poems, and inside are a special collection of what have turned out to be not only MY personal favorites, but also the favorites of many of YOU. Some of these have never been available in print before...
