My poem below is motivated by the sad events in Charlottsville this past weekend.

Although her death caused so much pain

Heather Heyer died not in vain.

She wanted to stop bigotry

and stand up for equality.

Her killer silenced Heather’s voice.

So now we all must make a choice.

To help achieve her worthy goal

or lose a part of our own soul.

You make me wonder, in time whether the young man who did this travesty will somehow have his name last longer than the one of Heather's for her being in the line of fire.

Why I wonder, when so much is going on in the world. we sink to scarcasm and hatefulnes every chance we get. Yeds, it was another tragedy that womn had to lose her life.
