I started this poem in 2010, but never finished it until now because of other issues at the time. If you don't believe the power of demons, I hope you never have to. The night was April 9th, 2010. The only time I have watched "The Last of The Mohicans." As we watched she fell asleep with her head on my chest. The heart can be foolish believing that a relationship will last forever, when in truth only love will, even if only in memories. It deserves to be finished along with the other poems I never finished.
Lie thy head, upon my body
Flow my words, in breathless Speech
Thy scent, be drawn within me
Thy essence, deep does reach
Bring eyes, the glow of heavens
Lover’s light, ourselves besiege
People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. When you figure out which one it is, you will know what to do for each person.
When someone is in your life for a REASON . . . It is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally, or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend, and they are! They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then, without any wrong doing on your part, or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered. And now it is time to move on.
When people come into your life for a SEASON . . .Because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn. They bring you an experience of peace, or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done and that is to learn love. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it! It is real! But, only for a season...
It was for a season... love never dies... it remains for an eternity...
Yes, very beautifully expressed. I feel transported back to nineteen century poetry with your language and the intent. It is really unfortunate that your relationship didn't last, especially when you wrote such beautiful poetry for her to enjoy.
That reminds me of the time my girlfriend and I drove 60 miles to Minneapolis to watch the hokey movie, Love Story. At some point, when she realized the tragedy was coming, my girlfriend started crying. She didn't stop when we left the theater or all the way home on that long drive on the interstate. When I asked her why she was crying so much she just said, “That's us!” She was having difficulty knowing that my spinal cord injury was growing worse and there was nothing that could be done about it––that was over forty years ago––the tragedy never happened like she thought it would.
I only saw The Last of the Mohicans once, too, and was mesmerized by the wilderness and the native people. I want to see it again. Why women fall asleep while watching such fascinating stories, I'll never know.
Even though relationships end for whatever reason it is difficult to get the person's soul connection to end.
>I feel that we are destined to find perhaps a few of those soul connections ,if we are lucky. Just have to embrace each and every moment in life and live!
