Shared legacies.

Climb up here upon my knee

Ride it like a horse

As long as your heart desires

It is not a free ride you see

Long into your tomorrows

It carries large responsibilities

When I will expect you too

To let your child take the wild horse ride

Upon the knee you provide

And you must train them too

So they may provide the same

For the children in their tomorrows

Your horse ride upon my knee

Is carried on as a family legacy

Our families' children will ride

From knee, to knee, to knee

Powered by the love of you and I

And theirs, and theirs, and theirs

Ride it well

This draws well a memory of a family tradition that many readers can remember as well.

This is a beautiful legacy of love and sharing. I remember those days like they were yesterday. Sadly, since all my sons have died, this part of life has stopped. Yet, I still share this love with my young neices and nephews. Thank you for this wonderful memory.

God bless you. Kathy

This is great message, but my two kids
frown if they are ask to do the
dishes. When I make them do the dishes
they kinda get mad, but I don't care.
Someday I tell them, you will have kids
and they won't do the dishes.
I use to let them both rock on me knee
Stay safe Jon

Good words for great purposes. Let's hope that other responsibilities are accepted and become parts of family support.
Yes, it's much better if we pass it along as you suggest, so that the shock of mentoring a brood of children is a schock to the younger set. - Bill

So many memories recalled ,of my boys riding my knee like a pony.Thank you Jon, this is delightful imagery, and a wise and good message of how important these links between child and adult are.

Love,
Eileen
