Peru, land of the ancients.

Oh ancient city in the Andes high

Where earth's edge reaches out to sky

No nation's flag you need fly

Your history tells the reason why

You became a city of the world, long ago

But who among them was to know

When Atahualpa andhis mighty warriors fell

Heard 'round the world, the death knell

In Cajamarca, all was not well

Truth no shrouded in mystery

Reality perhaps lost forever, to history

When golden rays enter from above

Your streets will again be filled with love

Time has revealed your ancient glow

Was not from the oro

Was your folks' aura

To the nations of the world

You will open your mighty arms

All people will know of your charms

Oh ancient city in the Andes high

Cajamarca, where earth's edge reaches out to sky

As anthropologists uncover old civilizations, these people live again. Their story will be in history books and they'll never be forgotten. You honor them well

God bless you. Kathy
