John Flanagan's marverlous,"Red and Black", inspired me to share this rendering from 2007. Thanks, John.

Poppies have transformed the hillside

in the afternoon breeze they sway

like a scarlet tide washing

cleansing all the hill's dullness away

are there powerful opiates at work this day

no the transformation is the mind's play

eyes transfixed by the poppie's magic

tricks,tantalizing my expectations

with psychedelic transformations

rhythmic waves that mutate reality

into a red sea of individual conceptuality

more likely is that, the reality

An excellent imagery poem, Jon. Not only do I see the swaying, but I also feel the breeze on my face. Hugs,

Jon,
You flatter me but thank you for citing me as a source of inspiration and since I haven't read this poem before it comes to me "a scarlet tide" fresh and new and wonderful, and those final three lines stunning.

Jon, I'm glad you decided to resurrect Poppies Upon The Hillside.
A lovely picture, lovely lines: poppies that "sway like a scarlet
tide." It can't be written much prettier than that. Thanks. And
thanks to our good friend in Singapore, Mr. Flanagan. -gene.
