Wild turkeys, a wonderful sight.

Their visits unannounced

firt light,last light

midday,midnight

by self elective, stays are brief

I know them

for the samenes of their everyday dress

fitting attire mind you

handsomely done

albeit a bit drab

black boas, red combs

wild turkey hens come to visit

come to stare

bold as one of their species

nearing Thanksgiving dare

strut a little, scratch earth a little

snatch a grub or two

turn, look at me

nonchalantly taking their leave

jabbering in the parlance of wild things

to the trees beyond

three ladies of great social aplomb

So wonderfully creative as one can picture the scene as they stroll by. A true delight for the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday....

Once, Twice, Three times Ten, a lady. That's how many hens I ran into on a mountain road in the Monongahela National Forest one fall day.

They scattered everywhere, pooping on my car, but none ended up as T-Day dinner--drats!

Jon, do you think they were aware of their pending fate?

Just so beautiful

Overwhelming

Just look at me

Don’t I just look gorgeous?

Do you still…

Want to EAT me??

HUH??

Ben Franklin wanted the Turkey to be our national symbol, citing the rougishness and thievery of the Eagle. But then, would we have Eagle for thanksgiving...LOL
