One view of older guy's struggle to find a woman to share their lives with.

Tonic bubbles rise in ebullience

in flirtatious dance along the inside

of my glass

distilled juniper oil

progressively,seductively altering my mood

we met but an hour or so ago

my gin, tonic and I

now here sit we both

an empty bar stool on either side

the bar maid's coversation,trite,stale

my date now long overdue

stood up again is my guess

at fifty-five, feminine companionship is illusive

idle talk and a succession

of failures to produce a woman of interest

for gents at the top of the hill

each failure, seems to breed the next

honesty has no attraction these days

brags, boasts and lies are what most want

not the catches I would keep

where is she

the one I need

to stop from my heart, this bleeding

so my friends, gin and tonic in the glass

will have to secure my mood

too bad,they have no allure

nor cure for a lonely heart

bartener,another please

To search out "Love" is always tragic. To replace love with gin and tonic...sad

Well written words from the heart. You snagged a piece of reality with this one.
May the new year bless you with a special someone, We all deserve it, even, or especially us old farts.

Too many guys reach that point, get careless, and get taken by their sugar babies.

A sad write, Jon, of the dating scene. But, honestly: do you expect to meet a good woman in a bar? Just wondering ... still and all, an excellent write.

(((HUGS))) love and Merry Christmas!, Karla.

Truth, humbleness and a passionate heart means so much more when joining hearts and lives. Such sadness in your words.....

Be always safe,
Karen

I am sure many "older gents" can relate to this honest, from the heart expressive write, Jon. Thank you. Merry Christmas to you with love and peace,
