-- Heartache of Dusk --

By John Herlihy

The heart joy that we feel at dawn,

Gives way to the heartache of dusk.

Our lifeline on the hand palm drawn,

To trace destiny and face it we must.

Whatever happens stays for a while,

We feel its lingering echo and touch.

Our sorrows do travel many a mile,

Our joys end up feeling as a crutch.

The solution, to be courageous, brave,

To go where no one has gone before.

In those depths of ocean be the wave,

Making its way to a welcoming shore.

The heartache of dusk has its own will;

The heart joy of dawn is promised still.

Life in any form is far from static. It is dynamic, flowing, sometimes freely and sometimes amid rocks. But as I read once, what is is what forever goes and returns. Liked this.

Beautifully written, I however do not experience heartache at dusk.
That means my day of work is coming to an end, and I look forward to the night.
