Grains of sand flow like a stream
from the vessel of life's moments
their within the nucleus of time
and circumstance eternal
defining who we were, who we are
into the personal domain of each life
they enter, and are compiled
grains of a life lived
events shaping our memories
as the journey unfolds
our paths sometimes conflicting
with the pristine
idealistic plans of youth
many were the unexpected moments
when event and plan
walked not, hand-in-hand
andyou were left treading water
in search of
explanations to share
who we wanted to be, who we became
life's realities often harsh
starkness with no intent of fairness guaranteed
fate, the crapshooter is often rolling the dice
chaos seeks to rein
so we seek to choose those we'll cherish
and emulate often
fulfilling us
enhancing our inner essence

Another strong, meaningful poem, a sane and worthwhile evaluation of the process of doing and becoming; of course we're victims of regrets and errors along the way but it can't be otherwise unless we choose not to live at all.

Beautiful write. Youth is so unexpected, you never know what will happen next. You've capture this eloquently.
