Arts struggle to be pure.

A Rambling Man’s Inept Pen

dribbling over the soul of descriptors

semantics struggling for clarity’s eye

hammered on by manipulators of verbiage

to man, artist, playwright or poet

mulberry stain stamping on white linen

these inept curators of communications

left where cherry dressing was needed

to soothe royal crimson velvet desires

who will brave sanctions to decry

ineptitude thrives with calamity there

among purity of artistic conceptions

who will ride the crest of a rip tide

salvage of art a principled cause

weak men avoid to save the scorn

of peerless practitioners muddling

thrust the sword my way and I will

counter thrust nobly in arts defense

I find your poem very meaningful and worthy of much more than a single reading, Jon. I appreciate the perspective that you have shared with your readers (including me of course). Love and peace to you,

Regis

Inept? You? Never. So beautifully penned, power in poignant lines of self criticism. We are our own harshest critics -- believe me, I know. Do I ever. Well done, Jon.

Art is expressed by the writer or painter when capturing in whatever form the visions and colors of their souls, and putting it out there.
As always Jon Michael, brilliant work

Ah, the sticks and stones of art are many. So many have had to die to become known.

Thank you for reminding me of the whims of art and what it takes to survive.

The whole piece is impressive, Jon, but that last stanza is both the heart and soul of this unique poem.

All the reasons why art is so diverse. Each sees what they want to see whether conjured or reality. Deep writing with a fantastic delivery...

Be always safe,

This is pemmican poetry, Jon, a rich condensed dish...there is just so much here, so much, and the control of expression is impressive...and the idea of defence admirable, a warrior prepared to counter-thrust.
Very fine indeed.

Art is in the eyes of the beholder and not all see the same picture.

and we do salvage!! YES!!
we as poets and creations of possibility
creators and imaginative pursuers delving deep
pen forward with ink & muse
dancing with the musical stage or silence
listening & noble...always daring our art & craft
