mornings
I am not staid in morning rituals
no two days offer equal opportunities
four-thirty a.m. suit my impressions of one
tomorrow may require me to arise at eight
late, early are such unreasonable values
they please only the fancy of the methodical
inspiration is the alarm clock that awakens me
yesterday sunrise called and I greeted it noting
never had I seen one of such unique beauty
today the sun rose upon my closed eyelids
restless night held my attention ‘til three a.m.
I dreamed of a reunion that held me in peace
unwilling was I to relinquish time with friends
now gone save for in my thoughts and dreams
the new morning will have its own request
I remain ever the vagabond absent ritual
for what man would not follow his fancy
and play the morning to the music of his soul

Thank you, Jon...& John! :):)
you have a magical way with words and I feel myself being pulled in.
Willingly and enthusiastically, of course.
Thanks Dick

a delicate eloquent rebuke to convention
and harness.
No need to thank me, Jon, My Friend,
my contribution to this fine poem was lilliputian.

restlessness that haunts those early morning hours. But only you,
my vagabond friend, and your gentle mind, could translate those
fretful hours into into music. -gene.
I especially like to see the sun rise even though I seldom these days greet it with open eyes myself.
Blessings,
Christine
