my vulnerabilities
suggestive glances in the pool of blue eyes
strawberry blonde hair haloed in moonlight
taste of salty lips on an August beach blanket
eddies of ambiguity sipped from wine glasses
notoriety’s prospects in fast autos on tarmac
odds taunting from a whirring roulette wheel
helplessness watching a dear friend die
red cheeks ebony hair of an Apache babe
red spruce forest harmonizing in the wind
angelic touch of mother’s hand on my brow
a figure arched by the pressures of time
“grandfather, can you help me please”
outstretched hearts and hands of strangers
a mendicants’ distant stare, tapping cup
desperate hollow faces of third world hunger
tulip’s reign of beauty on a crisp sunny day
endless simple pleasures of small town life
providence’s blessing upon my unworthy soul

Beautifully written Jon. Some of the things you mention are so beautiful, other so tragic.

soul, most of all the compassionate soul...
vulnerabilities are also your strengths,
Jon, My Friend, your reaching out, your
celebration of other cultures, other voices
as well as those familiar, a great eye for detail
and the ability to share all this with your readers.
