Now She Is There!

I was there

For her first breath, her first cry, and her first smile.

I was there

For her first steps, her first words, this took a long while.

Oh how they were worth the wait, and filled me with such love.

Knowing within my soul that she was a blessing from up above.

I was there for her first day of school, the chicken pox and mumps.

I was there for her first bike ride, kissing the bruises and the bumps.

Her beautiful smiles radiated her charms and grace.

And a bonding so strong between us was firmly in place.

I was there for her first love and her teenage years,

I was there for her first frustrations, disappointments and tears.

If we made it through this time, I knew we both would grow,

For inside she had strength, and throughout, it would show.

I was there for her engagement and her wedding day.

I was there for the birth of her child, in pain where she lay.

She grew into a beautiful person that fills me with pride.

And knowing forever, she’ll walk by my side.

Now she is there for me when my fears are so grand.

She is there giving loving support and a helping hand.

Now she is there lifting me up when I’m feeling real low.

Kissing my cheeks, and all the bumps that don’t show.

When she is around me, my cares seem so small.

And just having her beside me, makes me feel tall.

While looking at her here and now, my heart truly sings,

Being aware, she is and always was the wind beneath my wings.
