Don't Make Me A Burden

Those of us that have health problems feel that we put a burden on family and friends. This poem was written to thank those that always look after those less fortunate.

Don’t Make Me A Burden!

God gave me so much in my life so far,

A pretty home and a reliable car.

He gave me friends that were simply great,

They fill my life, they're all first rate.

I feel so blessed each and every day,

And I thank God for them, each time I pray.

Yes, God gave me so many things in life,

So how can I complain of a little strife?

I'm not ungrateful, I'm really not,

Believe me I thank God for everything I've got.

It's just sometimes I get so ill,

Nothing seems to help, nothing seems real.

I can't think straight when this happens to me,

So I pray to get well and have the pain flee.

But now I understand that it's my cross to bear,

I really don't mind and it only seems fair.

I have so many blessings, it's not so bad.

It's hard sometimes seeing my friends looking so sad.

If I wouldn't feel like a burden to those that care,

I could get through anything, for I believe in prayer.

Don't make me a burden Lord, that's all I ask,

And I'll do anything, no matter how great the task.

Please bless those friends you have given to me,

And let me give them strength and help them to see.

That we all have crosses to carry and bear,

And they made mine lighter, when they knelt in prayer.

That's all I need Lord, and I'll make it through,

By counting my blessings, loving my friends, and trusting

In you!
