SO DIFFERENT

We want to say thank you for being there for us,

Through the difficult times when we made such a fuss.

There were times it got hot with arguments and more,

We knew at those times, you'd as soon go out the door.

We were so different, so far apart.

Different in color, background and heart.

Different in mind, body and soul,

Different in spirit, in wills, and our goals.

Many times feelings got hurt,

And several of us even got mad,

But you listened and stuck by us

Through the good times and the bad.

In the past, so often our voices went unheard

And too few people seem to understand,

Why we're fighting for our rights,

Across this great land.

But you were there with open minds,

And stood by us through it all.

You made us feel important and

Helped us to stand tall.

With your help we united,

We began to feel like one.

We began to pull together,

To get this great task done.

We learned we're not so different,

And that everyone has a place.

We all have dreams of what's to come,

It doesn't depend on differences or race.

If everyone was just like you,

And would keep an open mind.

This world would be a better place to live in,

For all mankind!
