THEN NOW AND ALWAYS

Saying goodbye to a friend is very hard to do.

Especially since, that friend was you.

All the things we shared in the past,

Makes me more confident that our friendship will last.

We have those memories that we keep in our minds,

And all those memories’ of all the great times.

We had many wonderful talks and good cries together,

I can never forget them, no not ever.

The day of your mother's death, I cried with you,

For when you hurt, I hurt too.

I love you and I knew without a doubt,

You'd always be there to help me out.

You've helped me so many times in those past years,

Keeping my spirits up, in spite of my fears.

I can't forget you and I won't even try,

For the years that passed, stronger grew the tie.

Many times when I missed you so,

I thought of old memories and I wouldn't feel so low.

Although we're separated and so far apart,

I wanted you to know you're still in my heart.

Leaving you behind was my saddest day.

I keep trying to remember, you're only a phone call away.

Remembering that gets me through so much.

You still give me strength, so let's keep in touch.

Thanks for always being there when I feel so low.

It's because of that our friendship will grow.

No, I'll never say goodbye again,

'Cause once was enough, my dear old friend.

Now that I know you're always there,

With those miles between us, I don't even care.

If you ever get lonely, or ever need me,

Just pick up that phone and that's right where I'll be.

After all that's only fair,

For when I needed you, you were always there.

With our friendship as strong as it ever could be,

You're never alone, you always have me.
