Look Up When You're Down

When you think nobody shares your lows, think again. We've all been there!

Look Up When You’re Down

When you feel your life is over and

You can’t go through another day.

Try to remember the good things that happen,

And not the other way.

No one ever said that life was an easy road.

‘Cause there are times you're bogged down,

With an extra heavy load.

It’s times like this that make you wish,

That you were never born.

Nothing seems to matter, you’re alone, unhappy,

And feeling so forlorn.

You think that you’re the only one,

That ever felt this way.

But so many people have just the same thoughts,

Each and every day.

Who knows where these thoughts came from or

Why they ever came,

The terrible feelings they leave behind

are always just the same.

You can’t give in to these deep hours of pain.

You have to fight and release the blame.

Get rid of the bitterness it only kills,

The way to escape is not through pills.

You have to look up when you’re down that low,

And that’s when you’ll heal and begin to grow.

There’s so much power in a prayer from the heart.

Your answer may not come instantly but it’s sure a great start.

Don’t ever give up on yourself or what you can do.

God never does, so why should you?

Look up when you’re down and you’ll get through.

Your life is just beginning, you’ll be renewed.

Masterful poem. I borrowed it to cheer up a friend, but only after I edited out the religious connotations.

Oh, Bonnie, this is so true! If this helps only one person, what a miracle it would be.

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
